Free Business Idea

Every time I move I do the same thing to collect boxes, and I have the same business idea. I drive around the back of the closest strip mall. Behind almost every store is a “cardboard only” dumpster that is full of perfectly clean, once-used cardboard boxes in various shapes and sizes. I get more than I need for moving, for free.

So here’s the biz idea:

- Collect a few hundred boxes, and create a few average size ranges that most of the boxes fit into.

- Collect contracts from buyers, companies who have a need for lots of cardboard boxes. Could be companies that do a lot of online sales, or companies who produce products that need to be shipped out to stores, but aren’t quite at the assembly line massive scale level. Guarantee them boxes within whichever size range they request.

- Go around and collect boxes. You could probably just take them, or you could create agreements from “sellers” – stores that have a large number of incoming boxes that normally just put them in the dumpster.

- Sell the collected and sorted boxes back to your buyers.

The win here is that the “sellers” get to unload their boxes into a super-green super-earth-friendly business. The buyers get to buy boxes that fit their needs, but cost much much less than new corrugated boxes.

This idea might have problems, maybe it’s unfeasible, or illegal. I don’t know or care, but if you make a couple-hundred mil from it, all I ask is $1m.

Good luck.
