A few weeks ago Jeremy Zawodny made a post about the death of the $100 hamburger. With gas crossing $4/gal, and demand actually decreasing, it seems to be that the new $100 hamburger is going to be any time you take a drive in a car to grab lunch somewhere else. Say you drive 50 miles there, 50 miles back..your sports car gets 10 miles to the gallon…with lunch…that’s awfully close to a $100 trip.
My $100 hamburger is already any day I take the boat out and get a burger at Maynards. Oh well. You gotta pay to play.

Any readers want a web design job? I’ll tell you up front I’m not going to pay you much (it’s a SIMPLE design) but consider it an interview to work with us in the future. I like to have several designers with different styles available to me, and I think its time we add a few arrows to the quiver. Email me.

So I know I’m late to the party. Really late. I was cleaning up my desk the other day in preparation to move, and I found this fantastic article about olive oil sitting on my desk. My Dad had given it to me, and I wanted to save it but I didn’t want this thing floating around my life for the next few years. And then it hit me. I should store this in the cloud, and I can probably find it online. 2 seconds later I had the article on my screen. Now what…. in Reader I star stuff that I want to save to go back to some day, but that wouldn’t work for this.
That was the lightbulb moment. OK, now I get del.icio.us. I finally created an account and have slowly started to add interesting things I remember or have found to it. I know I’m a late bloomer on this one, but I finally realized it has a purpose. My goal is to store everything in the cloud, and I’m one step closer.
My del.icio.us thingy.

My buddy Loren made a video about why video comments will fail. I think he’s probably right on the money that the numbers just aren’t there. So few people comment, even fewer will leave a video. As usual, he’s also right that most people have nothing interesting to say. But I think he misses one point.
Loren, I love you man, but sometimes I don’t even have the patience to watch your videos. And they’re GREAT. Most are fantastic (including the one above). The problem is that I can read the same amount of text that is in a 2 minute video in about 30 seconds. Or skim it in less. I just don’t have the bandwidth to watch videos (and get work done).
Now I can tear through a page of idiotic blog comments in a few seconds, and there might even be a gem in there. But am I going to waste time watching 30 videos? The answer is fuck no, my friends. And don’t try to tell me that social voting and rating will separate the wheat from the crap. I don’t trust any of you to tell me what is good, just look at digg.
