Lazyweb: Any shopping cart recommendations?

I’ve been asked for some shopping cart advice and I’m not even sure how to help. Has anyone used CRE Loaded, ideally? I have not been impressed by x-cart at all (yeah James, it sucks). osCommerce is acceptable, but it’s not great either.

    Hey Dave,

How about trying out the new Magento shopping platform, that’s out of the box way better than anything i’ve seen. Only thing is that it’s a bit more work on the installation part and the requirements are a bit higher. Worth the try though!

some seo issues at the current time with duplicate urls - but the ecommerce part is powerful - only in v1.0 at the moment

Magento is amazing. Definitely look into it. One drawback that I’ve seen so far is that they do not offer a gift registry - however, it is in the roadmap. Xsilva Lightspeed has a add-on module as well (in reference to: http://www.dellanave.com/blog/2007/11/19/how-to-hack-xsilva-lightspeed-to-get-openbase-password/)

I have had good luck with EarlyImpact “ProductCart”, although it’s written in Active Server Pages, so that might disqualify it for you. But it’s been good for my needs.

That won’t do, but thanks for the comment!
