Good Progress on the Corvette

I know posting has been light. I’ve been underwater with working on Fighters.com.

Stopped by the shop the other day to check on the progress. Things are going really well. For about 2 weeks of work I am really impressed. I think it will get even more exciting when they start putting the interior back together and it almost looks drivable. I posted a few new pictures in the gallery.

I promised some more details so..

The engine is going to be a 454 +.060 for a 468 total. The heads are oval-port 781 heads. They won’t be as good as a modern aluminum head, but they’re about the best casting GM ever made. The cam is a very aggressive, lump solid lifter cam. Compression should be around 10.5:1 so it will run on pump gas. Expected power output is around 550HP. All the noise goes out 4″ Hooker side-pipes.

The most exciting part for me, being the geek that I am, is that the engine will be fuel injected with a Megaqsuirt fuel injection. I’ve spent many, many hours making the wiring harness for it by hand. The big black plastic part is a wideband oxygen sensor controller from Innovate motorsports.

Should be fun.

Kick ass. I used to own a 1969 Camaro - it was my first car. I’m still kicking myself for selling it.

Right on. Megasquirt is fun to tinker with as I’m sure you’ve figured by now. Interesting to see another tech guy that’s into old cars with a little twist of the new.
