You bring up a good point, and Akismet should be the #1 thing to do in a beginner guide.  That said, I had already thought of Akismet and enabled it for them.  I&#039;m more thinking about how a beginner should handle their first trackback that ALMOST looks legit but isn&#039;t.  Or comment spam like &quot;I like this post, thank you&quot;.  But is spam..

http://akismet.com/ - It&#039;s free and I believe its been made by the same people who made wordpress

I&#039;ve also a lot of people begin to use: http://recaptcha.net
