Well, they did not only manage to piss off some consumer, but also affiliates (they love this kind of shit, right during the holidays :) )

See this SEJ post of mine.

Google customer service? What is that? ... okay, they have now some customer service for a few of their things, but still, you know what I mean.

I purchased from eBags using Google Checkout. No problems at all. I agree that the duplicate emails make it harder to manage orders, especially if you are purchasing frequently.

Steve,

I don't intrinsically trust Google any more than anyone else wit h securing credit card info. If anything, the old "richest target gets the most attacks" principal applies. Once they do get cracked, then its ALL gone.

The $20 discount is not added value. Thats a short-term gimmick to get people to try it. Sorry, but just because they have billions to burn doesn't mean thats a value-add. Sure, the $20 worked. But it ended up costing me $50 because I had to go to a store to buy a similar item to the one I didn't receive.

As far as being more sober and balanced... there's plenty of fair and balanced reporting. This is my opinion.

>Awesome, another layer with no added value.

You're right, it does add another layer of complexity and clearly it is subject to some error (especially in the early phases), but no added value?

If Google actually does a good job securing the credit card information, wouldn't that be added value? Does not having to re-enter the information add value? How about getting $20 discounts during the introductory phase?

Don't you think calling something "a collosal piece of shit" is a little bit of an overreaction for a minor a glitch?

I guess if you had not acted like a drama queen, I probably wouldn't have responded. Next time consider acting more sober and balanced. You might make a better impression.

I used Google Checkout a few times, and the first time I had the same reaction: "What the hell was the point in that?" The second time was the same as well, "Oh, that was easy." I have had no problems since then, and at buy.com something that would cost me $50 only cost me $30 for using it, so I'm going to continue using it as long as that discount is still there. As far as shipping issues I have had no problems with it so far, but that's not to say they won't happen. Plus like you said, every time something happens with the order you get 2 emails, and that is kind of annoying.

I have used it many times, I think yours is an isolated problem. I had no problems with Checkout. I hide my e-mail address and let them communicate via Google. It is far better than Paypal with their high charges.
